Nathan Bryson

Data Engineer → Aspiring Data Scientist

Hi, I’m Nathan — I turn messy operational data into clean insights and automated workflows. I work in Python & SQL, build dashboards in Power BI, and ship geospatial analytics with ArcGIS. Currently at the State of Utah’s Division of Oil, Gas, & Mining.

About

I’m a data-minded builder with a public-sector lens. By day, I support the State of Utah’s Division of Oil, Gas, & Mining— cleaning messy operational datasets, automating repetitive work with Python, and turning questions into clear dashboards. By night, I sharpen my software skills through hands-on projects: mapping well data, packaging desktop utilities, and prototyping services that move data reliably from A to B.

What I’m good at

  • Python for data work (pandas, NumPy), simple APIs, and automation scripts
  • SQL for querying and shaping data; basic modeling for BI
  • Power BI for practical dashboards stakeholders actually use
  • Geospatial: ArcGIS basics and map-driven storytelling

Recent highlights

  • Built a Python app to track Pokémon card collection data (learning-focused project)
  • Prototyped a well-mapping workflow pulling records from Salesforce to a web map
  • Packaged a Mac desktop “Debt Tracker” with a Tkinter GUI
  • Coursework at WGU toward B.S. in Data Analytics

My next step is deeper end-to-end data engineering: robust API ingestion, light ETL, and shipping small tools that improve how teams use data day to day.

Let’s work together

Have a role or collaboration in mind? I love automating tedious workflows and building clear visuals from real-world data.
